Just as the recent storm swept through the northern region the prior day, City overwhelmed Manchester United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three-nil victory for their manager's side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they strengthened their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Successive Losses for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled back-to-back WSL defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, placing them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their title hopes severely dented.

Manchester United's capacity to balance domestic and continental football with a thin roster has been a frequently analyzed issue since they secured entry to the European competition. Reviewing the schedule, it always seemed this was the week that would truly test this fortitude. Regrettably for the opposition, they looked fatigued all game, the landmark win against PSG clearly having taken a toll.
